Discover the secrets of mosaic making at the renowned Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli, taste the delicious San Daniele ham and delight your palate with tastings of local wines in suggestive wine cellars. Treat yourself to a walk through the medieval alleys of Cividale and walk along the ancient Roman streets of Aquileia. An exciting journey in search of the authentic roots of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

DAY 1: Udine (D)

Arrival at Ronchi dei Legionari (Trieste) Airport or Udine Train Station and transfer by bus to the hotel in Udine city. Check-in at the hotel and meeting with a guide. Walking tour of the city of Udine and its beautiful historic center. Walk in the city between Piazzale del Castello, Piazza Libertà, Via Mercatovecchio, Piazza Matteotti, Piazza Municipio, Piazza Duomo, Palazzo Arcivescovile with Gallerie del Tiepolo, walk in the city with visits to artisan workshops and historic shops. Around 6pm it's aperitif time and the central squares are filled with people, lights and colours! For you too, at the end of the tour, it's time for the aperitif-dinner in one of the many characteristic "Osterias" of the city center, including good Friulian wine and a typical menu of the area. Overnight in a central 3 or 4 star hotel.

DAY 2: Udine, Spilimbergo, Mosaic School and San Daniele – Udine (B, L & wine tasting).

After breakfast, meeting with the guide and departure to Spilimbergo, famous for its notable artistic and historical heritage, including its Renaissance frescoes, which attract numerous visitors every year. The city is also known for its tradition in mosaic work and for the "Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli" - the Mosaic School - a renowned institution dedicated to the art of mosaic. Founded in 1922, the Mosaic School promotes dialogue between tradition and innovation. In his workshops, traditional tools such as hammers and cutters keep the memory of artisanal work alive. At the end of the visit, departure for San Daniele. Visit to a ham factory and tasting lunch. Visit of San Daniele: Piazza Vittorio Emanuele (Duomo), Church of S. Maria della Fratta, Church of S. Antonio Abate (small Sistine Chapel of Friuli). On the way back, stop at a winery with tasting of local wines. Return to Udine, free time, free dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Udine – Cividale – Udine (B, L & wine tasting)

After breakfast, meeting with the guide and departure for Cividale, walk between Ponte del Diavolo, Piazza Duomo, Corso Paolino, Piazza Paolo Diacono, with a visit to the Monastery complex of S. Maria in Valle with the Longbard Temple (due to the reduced number of entrances, it is not always possible to visit the interior) and to the Christian Museum. Tasting lunch based on local cuisine with typical dishes such as Frico. In the afternoon visit to the Natisone Valleys with a stop at SMO "Slovensko multimedialno okno" of San Pietro al Natisone, a "narration" museum dedicated to the cultural landscape that runs from the Julian Alps to the sea, from Mangart to the Gulf of Trieste, On the way back, visit a wine cellar in the area to taste some of the region's wines. Return to Udine and free dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Udine – Trieste – Udine (B, L)

After breakfast, meeting with your guide and departure by bus towards Trieste. Once you reach Trieste visit Piazza Unità d'Italia, Arco di Riccardo, Cathedral, San Giusto Castle and Basilica of San Giusto, Scala dei Giganti, Roman Theater, Cavana district. Lunch in a restaurant based on typical Trieste cuisine. After lunch, visit ìthe Portizza Pass, Piazza Verdi, with the famous Giuseppe Verdi Opera House, the Greek Orthodox church San Nicolo dei Greci and the Serbian Orthodox church San Spridione. Return to Udine, with an inevitable stop to visit the Miramare castle. Arrival in Udine and free dinner in a restaurant or hotel and overnight.

Day 5: Udine – Aquileia and Grado – Udine (B, L)

After breakfast, meeting with guide and departure by bus towards Aquileia. Visit Aquileia's archaeological sites (decumanus, forum, river port, Domus di Tito Macro) and the National Archaeological Museum. Departure to visit Grado and lunch in a typical seafood restaurant. Free time for a walk in Grado and visit the historic center, castrum gradense, Basilica S. Eufemia and S. Maria delle Grazie. Return to Udine, free dinner in hotel or restaurant and overnight.

Day 6: Departure

After breakfast, free time until departure time. Transfer by bus to Ronchi dei legionari airport (Trieste) or Udine train station.
