Gorizia and the Eastern Hills: one day tour

Discover our proposals for exploring Gorizia and its surroundings

Our daily tour proposals in Gorizia and surrounding areas

Gorizia is a town located in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, in the north-east of Italy, on the border with Slovenia. It is known for its strategic position along the Isonzo River and for its history rich in cultural and political influences. A peculiar aspect of Gorizia is that it is divided into two parts: Italian Gorizia and Nova Gorica, the Slovenian part. This division is the result of the 1947 Treaty of Paris, which redefined the borders after World War II. Gorizia and Nova Gorica share the same history and culture, but are divided by a political line that makes them two separate cities. However, despite the political division, the two cities maintain close cultural and social ties. Furthermore, Gorizia and its surroundings are rich in history and culture, with numerous castles, churches and museums to visit. The city itself features a charming historic center with cobbled streets and architecture from different eras, a testament to the Italian, Slovenian, Austrian and Hungarian influences that have left their mark on the region over the centuries.

The "Colli Orientali del Friuli" - the Eastern Hills - is a wine-growing area located near Gorizia. This region is famous for the production of high-quality wines, especially white wines such as Friulano, Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc. The Colli Orientali del Friuli offer breathtaking landscapes with rolling hills covered in vineyards and are a popular destination for tourists who love wine and good food.
